ONAMIA -- Betty L. Blomquist, 70, Onamia, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at home.
She was born July 4, 1930, near Shakopee Lake in Onamia to Robert and Estelle (Hendricks) Roulston. She grew up on her parent's farm and graduated from Onamia High School before moving to California in 1948. She married Richard Blomquist on April 20, 1956, and they raised their children in California. She was a Sunday school teacher, PTA member and involved in the Cub Scouts. In the fall of 1967, they returned to Onamia. She was an employee of the First State Bank of Onamia for 23 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a treasurer for the American Cancer Society several years, as well as an annual volunteer at Onamia Days activities.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Sheppard, Minneapolis, Ronald Blomquist, Indianapolis, Richard Blomquist, Onamia; a daughter, Lori Dobel, Elk River; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Her husband; six brothers, Robert, Samuel, Everett, Lawrence, Ralph and Jack Roulston; and two sisters, Lenore Goldfine and Lucille Smith, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia with Pastor Rich Fitzer officiating. Burial will be in the Eleanor Foster Cemetery in Cove.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Shelley Funeral Home in Onamia and one hour before the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home.
