Halverson Law keeps lead

Despite falling to Thelen Heating and Roofing Aug. 30, Halverson Law Office remains in the men's league lead with one week remaining at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

Halverson Law holds a 1.5-point lead over Lakes Financial. The two will face each other Thursday. If Halverson Law retains the lead and wins the second half of the season, the teams will face each other again to determine the 2007 winner.

Lakes Financial was the first-half winner.

Thelen Heating is in third, but 10.25 points behind Lakes Financial.

Legacy women

There were four different winners in the championship league and three different winners in the par 3 league Aug. 30 during the women's "fun nite" at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

Colleen Hammer sank the longest putt on the par 3 course. Cathy Borgie was closest to the pin and Darlene Swedin tallied the longest putt with the opposite hand.

Tammy Olson captured the long drive from a chair event on the championship course. Barb Wenschlag had the longest putt opposite handed. Becky Butcher was closest to the pin and Carrie Thompson secured the longest putts.

Sept. 11 is the final women's night at the Legacy and will be a scramble.

Breezy Point men

Dick Parks Gas defeated Pestello's Bar 7.5-4.5 to ensure its second-half title Aug. 30 during the men's Twilight golf at Breezy Point Resort.

Dick Parks Gas claimed the title by 6.5 points over Pestello's, which won the first-half title.

The same two teams will battle Thursday to determine the season champion.

Bodyworks, which defeated Lion's 7-5, finished third.

Joi Brandt was the epitome of the "good stuff/bad stuff" game Aug. 30 during the final Breezy Point Resort women's league.

Brandt had the longest drive and hit the most trees during her round.

Three teams tied for first in the low net score game during the Pine River Country Club's women's league Aug. 30.

Team members were Dorla Lind, Sue Conley, Mary Jane Thompson, Karen Boche, Jean McMullen, Jan Miller, Lois Catchpool, Gloria Taylor, Donna Sarno and Judy Conrad.

Nancy Schmidt had a chip in.

Thursday is the women's league luncheon. Sept. 13 is the last day of league play.

Holes-in-one

Steve Bruch, Breezy Point, aced the 91-yard, sixth hole at Deacon's Lodge Aug. 23 using a gap wedge.
