Is every single resident and denizen of East Twin Lake dedicated to the noble cause of taking the entirety of the existing town of Pequot Lakes off the highway it grew up along? Are they equally enthusiastic about the scar a new four-lane highway will create to the east of town and the inevitable development that will result - from grocery store to fast-food to gas and convenience stores at the very least, all on property that is currently woods, hay fields and horse pastures? Safety, my foot! Where are the overpasses?
Miss the safety of road construction
I will miss the "safety" of road construction between Brainerd and Ironton. Not once in the last month have I been passed on a curve or hill by RVs, which has certainly decreased the risk of serious or deadly accidents. Wonder if those drivers have noticed the better gas mileage? Probably not - they aren't concerned in the first place.
No price gouging?
That was nice of the gas stations to jump gas up 10 cents a gallon over Labor Day weekend only to drop it back down to $2.99 on Tuesday. Tell me again about how there is no price gouging or price fixing going on.
Gas and corn flakes
Only Americans throw their corn flakes in their gas tank and starve to death.
ATVs help the area
ATVs. You just have to love them. Look at the economic development in just one weekend. Keeps the hospital busy, the sheriff's office busy, the dispatchers, keeps the neighbors getting in touch with each other. They really do help the area, don't they?
