The Paramount Theater will show "European Vacation," its last regular movie for the final time tonight. Farewell celebrations for the theater are planned for Friday and Saturday nights. The Spanish Mediterranean interior design was added to the theater in 1929.
30 years ago (1975)
Approximately 285 new students went through the orientation program at Brainerd Community College Sept. 3. Enrollment on the first day of classes, Sept. 4, was about 550.
40 years ago (1965)
Keith Somerville's 117 of 123 took high average in Sunday's shooting session at Uncle Tom's Trap Club. Tom Cibuzar was a point behind.
60 years ago (1945)
The Lion's Club Ladies Day will be held at the Pine Beach Hotel, Sept. 9. An interesting program of golf, cards, boating and other recreation has been planned. A banquet will close the activities.
80 years ago (1925)
Dale Sanders, a member of Troop No. 1 of this city, is accredited the honor of becoming the first Eagle Scout in Crow Wing County and was promoted to that rank on Friday evening.
