If you love to shop, the place to be this weekend is the Little Falls Arts and Crafts Fair, where 950 vendors will hawk their wares Saturday and Sunday in downtown Little Falls.

An estimated 100,000 people are expected for the annual post-Labor Day event, so you may want to park your car at the Morrison County Fairgrounds east of town on Highway 27. Shuttle buses run regularly.

Book-signing event planned in Nisswa

Literature fans will have a chance to meet Leif Enger at a book-signing event from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Nisswa Grille. Enger, who lives in rural Aitkin, is being touted as America's newest literary star with his book "Peace Like a River," released this month by Atlantic Monthly Press.

The novel has been chosen as a Book-of-the-Month Club main selection and has received rave notices by book reviewers across the country. Monday's event will be hosted by Rainy Days bookstore, the first in a multi-city author tour organized by the publisher.
