Marvin A. Trees

PEQUOT LAKES -- Marvin Arne Trees, 78, Pequot Lakes, formerly of Forest City, Iowa, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at home.

He was born March 20, 1923, near Dolliver, Iowa, to Emmet and Mary (Peterson) Trees. He was in the Air Force Intelligence during World War II in the South Pacific from January 1943 through January 1946. He married Margie Jane Johnson on June 8, 1947, in Armstrong, Iowa. He raised registered Hereford cattle for many years. They retired in 1981 and purchased their home near Pequot Lakes. He was awarded the State of Iowa Lifesaving Certificate for rescuing someone from a snowbound car in March 1965. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, charter member of Forest Federal Savings and Loan, Forest City Development, Iowa Cattleman's Association and the Upper Hay Lake Association.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Mark Trees, Breezy Point, Marion Trees, Forest City, Iowa, Marty Trees, Forest City, Iowa, and Marshall Trees, Plymouth; a daughter, Mary Kingland, Hanlontown, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, Iowa, with Pastor Michelle Simonson officiating.

Arrangements are with Northland Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes.
