MINNEAPOLIS -- Ila Hazel Holcombe, 99, Minneapolis, formerly of Brainerd, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001.
She was born April 28, 1902, to Myrtle and Bert Sabin in Brainerd. She graduated from Minneapolis East High School and St. Cloud Teacher's College. She was a member of the Third Order of Mt. Carmel for 42 years, Grand Regent of Catholic Daughters, Mankato. She was a resident of St. Paul and Brainerd and of Mission Lake for 95 years.
Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Kack, Merrifield, Carolyn Kujala, Chisholm, Lorraine Keup, Belle Prairie, Margaret Holcombe, St. Paul, and Judith Moeller, Cleveland; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Hall.
Her husband, Charles H., a sister, Clover Hague, and a brother, Gilbert Sabin, died earlier.
Services will be 7 p.m. Friday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, 1640 Montreal Ave., St. Paul. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Friends may call an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Steven's Square Nursing Home in Minneapolis or to the School Sister's of Notre Dame, Mankato.
