Brainerd defeated St. Cloud Tech 28-12 in freshmen football Thursday at Harvey Shew Field.

Warrior touchdown runs were by Tyler Fitch, Levi Rubin and Nathan Blume. Dax Van Steenwyk scored on a pass from Luke Boran.

Brainerd's defense was led by Reno Fussy, Sam Kelash, Fitch, Van Steenwyk and Rubin. Warrior Players of the Week were Fussy and Chris Bowman.

Hicks to fight Saturday night in Walker

R.T. Hicks of Brainerd will take on Kyle Fletcher of St. Cloud at 7 p.m. Saturday in a 170-pound mixed martial arts bout at Northern Lights Casino in Walker.

It will be the first welterweight fight for Hicks, who previously competed at 155 pounds.

Hicks, who also competes for Golden Lakes Boxing Club of the Brainerd area, will make his pro boxing debut Oct. 17 in St. Paul against an undetermined opponent.

Boxing club to have party

Anyone involved with the Golden Lakes Boxing Club is invited to a party beginning at noon Thursday on Lower Sylvan Lake .
