WADENA - Kevin McMarrow's 2-yard touchdown run in overtime prevented the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines from completing the comeback as the Park Rapids Panthers won the season-opener 13-7.
After falling behind 7-0 in the second quarter, Kevin Tumberg hit Logan Meyer on a 3-yard touchdown pass and Ken Sakry hit the extra point to tie the score with 7:56 remaining in the fourth.
Aaron Kern led W-DC with 111 yards on 26 carries. Tumberg finished 11-of-16 for 92 yards. Meyer finished with three receptions for 20 yards.
The Wolverines also outgained the Panthers 266-194 in total yards.
