NISSWA - The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. If you are at least 17 years (16 with parent's permission) in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds, you are eligible to give blood.

Crosslake council to meet in special session

CROSSLAKE - The Crosslake City Council will meet in a special session and closed meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at city hall.

For the closed session, the council will meet with legal counsel regarding the Shoutz versus city of Crosslake litigation related to park dedication and reimbursable fees for the metes and bounds subdivision submitted by property owners Cary L. And Nikki M. Shoutz.

The council may discuss action items in open session at the regular council meeting scheduled at 7 p.m. Sept. 14.

Pinetree Patchworkers to meet

BAXTER - Pinetree Patchworkers will meet at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 14 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter. Diane Gaudynski will present information about quilting on regular sewing machines.

WHS class of 1943

The Washington High School class of 1943 will have its 66th anniversary get together at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bonanza in Baxter. No sign up is necessary. Order what you want when you arrive. Those who plan on attending should call Wally at 963-7305 but last-minute decisions to attend are fine as well.

What's open/closed for the Labor Day holiday

Convenience stores, retail and grocery stores will remain open on Monday.

The Brainerd Post office will be closed. There will be no mail delivery on Monday.

Banks, government offices, the Brainerd Public Library and the Brainerd Dispatch business office will be closed on Monday. There will be a Monday newspaper.

The Brainerd and Crow Wing Public Transit (Dial a Ride) will not be operating on Monday.
