Adult Volunteer of Month
Hometown: St.Paul; as lived in Brainerd for the past 40 years.
Family: four children.
Volunteer activities: Quilting Program at the Crow Wing County Jail, 2nd Harvest food shelf, Bethany Good Samaritan helping with funeral lunches and anything else they need help. Joyce is also busy serving at Quilts for Valor twice a month and as an RSVP volunteer.
I volunteer because: I like to keep busy and I like to help others and see the smiles on their faces when I help them.
My most rewarding volunteer experience: Working at the Crow Wing County Jail teaching women inmates to make quilt blocks. Most times they do not even know how to sew, so I start with the basics, and then the thrilling look they have when they have accomplished a quilt block, and knowing that I have helped in someway improve their lives as I do keep in touch with a few of them.
Nominated by: Marshall Prescott - Crow Wing County Jail
