Gilbert leaves Gophers' team

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Tanisha Gilbert was declared academically ineligible and left the Gophers basketball team, the University of Minnesota announced Thursday.

Gilbert, of Brooklyn Park, played two seasons for the Gophers, starting 13 games. She averaged 14.7 points per game as a freshman. After knee surgery forced her to miss the 2001-2002 season, she averaged 4.9 points per game last season.
