MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Northwest Airlines is cutting about 1,000 jobs as it shifts to a reduced flight schedule for the slower, fall season.

Plane lands in Brooklyn Park backyard

BROOKLYN PARK (AP) -- A small plane ran out of gas and crash-landed in a backyard here, police said.No one was injured when the two-seat Cessna 152 landed around 10 p.m. Wednesday. The plane, which missed the Crystal Airport by about two miles, had taken off from Pine City, about 60 miles north of the Twin Cities.

Man who escaped from LeSueur County jail caught in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Police on Wednesday arrested a man who escaped from the LeSueur County jail 2 1/2 weeks ago. Aeron Curtis Bush, 27, was arrested in a park and told officers he'd been living on the streets.
