MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A USDA investigation has cleared a Minnesota meat company of any wrongdoing after it was forced to recall 717,000 pounds of meat last month, a USDA spokesman said Wednesday.

Federal regulators found that for nine days in June and July GFI American of Minneapolis mixed fresh beef with 18-month-old E. coli-contaminated beef slated to be made into pet food.
