CROSBY -- The Crosby-Ironton Senior Citizens Club will holds its monthly meeting and potluck at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cuyuna Range Community Center in Crosby.
Those attending are reminded to bring their own dishes, silverware and a dish to pass. Coffee will be provided.
Hostesses will be Vi Schneider and Isabelle Erickson.
Following the meeting and meal Bill Hanson will entertain with old-time music.
All senior citizens are welcome to attend and invited to join the club. Annual dues are $1.
Climbing sessions set at Deep Portage reserve
Deep Portage Conservation Reserve offers a climbing experience in the forest. A 30-foot indoor climbing wall is open to the public at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 29 and Oct. 13.
Participants must be at least 8 years old and accompanied by an adult. The sessions will last two hours and no late arrivals will be admitted.
Pre-registration is required and class size is limited to 20. Deep Portage instructors will be on hand to assure the safety of each participant. The fee for this program is $10 for each child and adult. To register for these sessions, call Deep Portage at (218)682-2325.
Brainerd woman receives award
Nicole Mills of Brainerd received a presidential medallion from Lynne Duffy, president of the Minnesota Women of Today, at the Summer Awards Convention in Willmar.
Mills is currently serving as president of the Nisswa Women of Today chapter. As local chapter president, Mills is responsible for every aspect of her chapter which includes recruiting, retention, administration and organization of chapter activities and records, along with ongoing communication with chapter members. The medallion is an honor that only 75 members throughout the state are awarded during the year.
Women of Today is a nationwide organization dedicated to making communities a better place to live. Minnesota has more than 2,400 members statewide. It is a non-profit volunteer organization, donating hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars each year into community service projects.
