SLEEPY EYE -- Chris Studer went 4-for-5 and Luke Weiland pitched a complete game to lead the Braves past the New Ulm Brewers 15-4 in seven innings in the Class C amateur baseball state tournament winners' bracket Sunday.
Studer had two doubles, both of which drove in runs, and hit two home runs. Studer, Ryan Thiesse and Brad Streiff connected for back-to-back-to-back solo shots in the third to put the Braves up 6-1.
Weiland surrendered seven hits, struck out three and walked two as the Braves advanced to Monday's championship game against Princeton.
In the seventh the Braves stormed ahead by the final score as shortstop Mike Bjerkness delivered an RBI single, Jade O'Brien ripped a 2-run double and Studer drilled a 2-run homer off a light standard.
Outfielder Adam Browning was 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the second and a 2-run single in the fifth.
Streiff's sacrifice fly in the sixth put Brainerd ahead 10-4. He finished 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Designated hitter Derek Owen smacked a 2-run, 2-out double in the second to knock in the Braves' first two runs. He finished 2-for-4 with two runs.
Dan DeChaine was 2-for-3 with two runs and Bjerkness was 2-for-5.
