PIERZ -- Harold V. Meyer, 79, Pierz, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at home.
He was born March 9, 1921, in Pierz, to Nick and Ann (Bares) Meyer. He attended school in Pierz. He married Min Poepping on May 12, 1942, in Pierz. He owned and operated Meyer's Meat Market until he retired in 1983. He was a fireman in Pierz for 38 years and the chief for 19 years. He was a catcher for the Pierz Pirates baseball team from 1943-1957. He was a member of the Buck Club for 31 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom, Pierz, and Church, Pierz; a daughter, Mary Grzeskowiak, Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard, Pierz; and three sisters, Jeanette Schaefer, Pierz, Geraldine Braun, Little Falls, and Dorothy Thielen, Pierz.
Services were today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Pierz with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Arrangements were with Brenny-Simonet Funeral Home of Little Falls.
