One person was killed in a single-vehicle rollover accident Monday on Highway 10 in Morrison County, 1 1/2 miles north of Royalton.
John Joseph Arouni, 80, Rochert, died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. Captain Joe Schueller, State Patrol, said it appeared Arouni's vehicle went into one ditch, crossed over the highway into the other ditch, then rolled over.
The accident was reported to the State Patrol at 8:34 a.m. Monday.
For the State Patrol's Brainerd District, which includes the counties of Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Morrison, there were a total of 22 accidents over the Labor Day weekend, Schueller said. Along with the fatality there were 11 accidents that resulted in personal injury and 10 that resulted in just property damage.
State Patrol figures for the Labor Day holiday are measured from Friday through Monday night.
Schueller said aside from the Arouni fatal, this weekend's accident numbers represent normal holiday traffic.
Arouni was among at least six people killed in accidents on Minnesota roads this holiday weekend. Seven people were killed and 348 were injured over the 1999 Labor Day weekend, according to State Patrol figures.
