Brainerd Post Office closed Monday for the holiday

The Brainerd Post Office will operate on a holiday schedule Monday in observance of Labor Day.

Acting Postmaster Kristi Weideman said residential and business deliveries will not be made on Monday and usual post office lobby services will not be available, with the exception of post office lock box service.

Mail pick-up from collection boxes also will be on a holiday schedule as posted on individual boxes.

Weideman said that mailing services will not be available at the Baxter branch station located at the Triangle Super America in Baxter during the holiday.

Mille Lacs Indian Museum offers wild rice processing demonstrations

ONAMIA - The Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post will process wild rice in the traditional way and visitors are welcome to come and watch.

They will be demonstrating how to dry, parch, thresh and winnow the wild rice and show the finished product. Demonstrations are free. Admission fee applies if visiting the museum. Demonstrations last about 20 minutes and take place every hour on the hour from noon to 3 p.m. every Saturday in September.
