DAV picnic is Thursday at Buffalo Hills/Lions Park
The Crow Wing County Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans will have its annual picnic at the Buffalo Hills/Lions Park at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The meats, refreshements and conditments will be provided by the chapter.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish or a desert to the picnic. We are asking everyone to also bring a bag or box of used clothing to the picnic for the annual clothing drive. Cookout to raise money juvenile diabetes research
A free cookout is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Advance Auto Parts parking lot to raise money for money through donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Cuyuna Range Youth Center to host fall craft sale and spaghetti meal fundraiser Sept. 18
CROSBY - The Cuyuna Range Youth Center is seeking baked goods donations and crafters for its fall craft sale and spaghetti meal fundraiser on Sept. 18.
The meal and craft sale, along with a dessert and bake sale, will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Deerwood Auditorium. Youth will be there to assist crafters by carrying their sale items in and then the remaining items back to the crafters' vehicles. Some crafters are planning to be outside, weather permitting. Those interested in making a baked donation for the bake sale or would like space to sell craft items may contact Lucy Bartz at (218) 839-2218 or Leona Miller at (218) 851-4765. Cost for the spaghetti meal, which will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., is $6 and is open to the public.
Bake and vegetable sale planned Sept. 12
The Lake Hubert Community Grange is sponsoring a bake and vegetable sale at 5 p.m. Sept. 12 with a potluck supper to follow. Directions to the event are to follow Highway 371 North of Brainerd to Sportland corner and take County Road 13 east for two miles to Sunset Valley Road and look for the old school house a quarter mile north on the left side.
