EAST GRAND FORKS - Brandon Wing rushed for 144 yards and scored a touchdown as Staples-Motley started its season with a 24-7 win over East Grand Forks Thursday.
The Cardinals scored 24 unanswered points after the Green Wave took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
Cody Hoemberg found the end zone on a pair of short touchdown runs in the second and fourth quarters while Alex Jansson hit Tanner Roberts with a 59-yard touchdown strike to round out the Cardinals' scoring plays.
Dylan Hales also helped pace the Staples-Motley rushing attack with 95 yards on 13 carries.
