In his latest adventure to raise funds for Kinship Partners, Gary Walters and his son, Jackson, are Rollerblading to Washington, D.C.
Check out his progress through Wednesday: The Walters continued on a trail system through Pennsylvania, this time on one where the old railroad bed was covered with limestone, which made travel harder but not as difficult as using a road system. Toward the end of the day the limestone had washed away exposing the rock below, resulting in seven crashes for Gary, though none resulting in injury.
Miles traveled: 48 miles.
Total miles traveled: 950 miles.
Total funds raised: $11,120 in donations.
Daily destination reached: Near Sommerset, Pa.
Mile musings: "In a 10-mile distance I went down seven times. None were painful, just embarrassing. As I was moving over this ground slower, in six of the falls I just went down on my face. I had all the pads on so no real booboos. On one fall I really tried to catch myself, thus I went down into a roll and off the trail. Again, no injury, just looked really cool."
