20 years ago (1988)

E. Z. Tanning won the 1988 women's team championship at Brainerd Golf Course. Golfers included Judy Johnson, Beth Engelsgaard, Jackie Vergin, Majel Laimer, and Karlyn Gordon.

30 years ago (1978)

A total of 635 of an expected 700 students were enrolled in programs at the Brainerd Vocational Institute as of today. One of the reasons seemed to be the change in the tuition charge.

40 years ago (1968)

The Lake Hubert railroad station, the last open-waiting area station of its kind in the United States, is moving from its old site to about two blocks west to a permanent site. It will become a permanent historical feature of the community.

60 years ago (1948)

Members of the 194th Tank Battalion Veteran's Association will gather in Brainerd for a two-day reunion at Grand View Lodge, Gull Lake. Veterans of the battalion, from all sections of the United States, are slated to attend the gathering here.

80 years ago (1928)
