S-M Area Arts Council season announced
The Staples-Motley Area Arts Council's 2008-09 season will include six shows.
Season tickets are $69 for adults and $41 for students. Every adult season ticket comes with a free student season ticket.
The schedule is:
"A Fine and Pleasant Misery: The Humor of Patrick F. McManus," 7:30 p.m. Sept. 19, Centennial Auditorium, Staples. Starring Tim Behrens.
Concord Singers, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25, T Maxwell's Restaurant, Staples. Traditional German-style dinner at 6 p.m.
Michael Johnson, singer/guitarist, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22, Centennial Auditorium, Staples.
Patrick Riley, cellist, 2 p.m. Jan. 25, United Methodist Church, Motley.
Monroe Crossing, bluegrass, 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27, Centennial Auditorium, Staples.
Nina (DeBow) Miller, soprano, 2 p.m. April 19, United Methodist Church, Motley.
Advance tickets for the Concord Singers are $25 for adults and $19 for students. For the other shows, advance tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students; at the door, tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for students.

Women's chorus rehearsal scheduled
STAPLES - The Staples Area Women's Chorus will begin its season with a rehearsal at 8 p.m. Monday in the Staples-Motley High School choir room. Women interested in joining the group are welcome to attend.

Legacy Chorale fundraiser planned
NISSWA - "Autumn in New York: Standards from the Big Apple," the annual fundraiser for the Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota, will be Oct. 17 at the Grand View Lodge's Norway Room in Nisswa. Cocktail hour will be at 6 p.m. and a multi-course dinner, music and silent auction will be at 7 p.m.

Rick Springfield to perform at casino
ONAMIA - Power pop musician Rick Springfield will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7-8 at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs Events & Convention Center north of Onamia.

Springfield has sold more than 19 million records and has 17 top 40 hits, including "I've Done Everything for You," "Don't Talk to Strangers," "Human Touch" and "Jessie's Girl." He has released 17 albums, including July's "Venus in Overdrive."
'County Lines' poetry anthology published
The poetry anthology "County Lines" has been published by the League of Minnesota Poets and Loonfeather Press. With 130 Minnesota poets featured in the book, all 87 Minnesota counties are represented.
