EAST GULL LAKE -- The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota will present its fall fund-raiser extravaganza, "Autumn in New York: Favorites from Broadway and the Met," at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 at the main lodge of Cragun's Resort on Gull Lake.
Festivities will begin with a cocktail hour and silent auction at 6 p.m. Seating for the five-course dinner and performance will be at 7 p.m., and the winners of the silent auction will be announced after the third act. Included in the program are five acts of arias, duets, trios and ensemble numbers from well-known Broadway musicals, Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and famous operas. All music will be sung by members of the Legacy Chorale and special guest singers from out-state Minnesota.
Among the opera selections will be "O Mio Babbino Caro" from "Gianni Schicchi," "Habanera" and the "Toreador" from "Carmen," the drinking song "Libiamo" from "La Traviata," the "Anvil Chorus" from Il Travatore and the "Humming Chorus" from "Madame Butterfly." The program will also include several selections from Broadway musicals -- "You'll Never Walk Alone" from "Carousel," "Goodnight, Ladies/Pick-a-Little, Talk-a-Little" from "The Music Man" and "There is Nothin' Like a Dame" from South Pacific. Additional songs include operettas written Gilbert and Sullivan: "Three Little Maids" from "Mikado," "When I was a Lad" from "H.M.S. Pinafore" and "When the Foeman Bears His Steel" from "Pirates of Penzance."
For the silent auction, several area artists and businesses have donated items and services such as paintings, wood carvings, photographs, spa packages, golf packages, hand-made furniture, pottery and even a dinner prepared in your home by a professional chef.
Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased by Sept. 24.
