Exsted, Izatys team win net team title

The team of Harley Exsted from Fiddlestix along with Dave Walters, Brandon Niesen and Chuck Lerberg from Izatys Resort claimed honors in the Minnesota Golf Association Net Team Championship at the Preserve and Pines at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa Wednesday.

At the Pines, the team carded 20-under-par net 124 to add to its first round total of 20-under-124 at the Preserve for a 36-hole total of 40-under-par 248.

The team of Glen and Joe Hasselberg, Bruce Lund and Steve Benson from the Vintage in Staples shot 134-125--259 to finish third.

Mark Ronnei, Tom Kientzle Jr., Fred Boos and Matt Grabow of the Pines shot 135-133--268 to finish 14th.

Bill, Barb and Troy Erickson and Kent Kyllo of Izatys shot 146-140--286.

In the Minnesota Golf Association Team Championship at the Classic at Madden's, the team of Brad Holland and Shawn Carter of Madden's and Shawn Chambers and Robert Birkeland of the Pines shot 149-149--298 to finish eighth.

Irv Fish, Woodhill, Jay Chapman, Interlachen, Stan Donnelly, Somerset and Bruce McIntosh of Golden Eagle was ninth at 148-152--300.

Charley Howe, Tony Kramer, Bill Crumley and Peter Wong of the Classic shot 174-167--341.

In the United States Mid-Amateur Championship at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan on Wednesday, Robert J Smiley of Mille Lacs Golf Resort shot 38-40--78 and failed to qualify.
