PINE RIVER -- Mary Janet Mathea (Heath) Travis, 77, Pine River, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
She was born July 25, 1925, to Clarence and Hilda Heath. She attended school in Pine River and graduated in 1943. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis and worked at a defense plant. In 1945 she returned to the Pine River area and worked for Dr. Adkins. She married Robert Travis on June 20, 1946. They lived in Pine River until 1951 when they moved to Deerwood. In 1953, they moved to Minneapolis. They moved back to Pine River and lived there for 10 years. She worked at Piney Ridge Lodge, Messenga's and Shamrock Cafe as a cook. In 1971, they moved to Oak Park where they lived until 1977. They moved to Pleasant Grove, Ark. In 1995 they returned to Pine River where they lived in the Norway Brook Apartments. She was a member of the Bah faith since 1973.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Bradley, Hackensack; a daughter, Janet Thompson, Foley; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, David Heath, Merrifield; and two sisters, Cora Pfrommer and Amy Engels, Hemet, Calif.
A son, Timothy Neil Travis; a daughter, LuAnn Marie Travis; two half brothers, Fred Lowe and Loris Lowe; a half sister, Loretta (Lowe) Risness; and a brother, Earl Heath, died earlier.
Burial was in Norwood Cemetery in rural Pine River.
Arrangements were with Kline Funeral Home in Pine River.
