Officer returns home after being dragged at State Fair
FALCON HEIGHTS (AP) -- A St. Paul police officer has been released from the hospital after being dragged by a van while directing traffic outside the Minnesota State Fair.
Officer Robert Zink was dragged for roughly a block by a van Saturday afternoon. He was released from Regions Hospital on Sunday.
Zink was outside the Fairgrounds when he stepped up to a van and began talking with the driver about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. As the van drove off, Zink's arm or clothing got caught on the bumper, said police spokesman Michael Jordan.
Zink eventually freed himself. The van driver apparently didn't notice what had occurred until looking in the rearview mirror and seeing the officer lying in the street.
