AITKIN -- A 19-year-old Minneapolis man drowned on Mille Lacs Lake Saturday after the boat he was in capsized.
The body of Nicholas Mark Robertson was found Sunday on the north shore of the lake.
At 11:02 p.m. Saturday the Aitkin County Sheriff's Department received a call of a capsized boat on Mille Lacs Lake. At the time of the call two other people in boat had been rescued. The three men had been fishing on the east side of Mille Lacs Lake. All three were wearing life jackets, the sheriff's department reported.
Aitkin Undersheriff Scott Turner while it hasn't been determined what capsized the boat; 5-6 foot waves were reported by the search party.
"It was incredibly windy and there were monster waves," which also hampered the search Saturday night, said Turner.
Robertson and the capsized boat were located about at 7:02 a.m. by fisherman on the north side of Mille Lacs Lake.
Robertson body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
Saturday's drowning was the first in Aitkin County since March when snowmobiler John Milton Schuck, 35, Keosauqua, Iowa, went missing under the ice on the Mississippi River near Jacobson.
Assisting in the search was the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Department, the DNR, the State Patrol, South Aitkin First Responders, Isle Ambulance.
