Alex Leach of Central Lakes College has been named the offensive player of the week in the Southern Division of MCAC football.
Leach, from Pierz, last week had three catches for 75 yards and one touchdown in helping the Raiders to a 23-6 season-opening win over Fond Du Lac.
The Raiders host Northland at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Frisbee Disc Golf Tournament Saturday
The Brainerd Parks and Recreation will host a Frisbee Disc Golf Tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lum Park course.
This is a 36-hole tournament. Divisions include Juniors, Men's and Women's Pro, Men's and Women's Amateur and Masters 35 and up.
There is a $15 registration fee with T-shirt or a $10 registration fee without shirt. Registration will be taken prior to the event at 9 a.m. at the Brainerd Parks and Recreation office in Lum Park.
Contestants must furnish their own equipment.
Bauer-DeCenzo inaugural winners at Cuyuna
John Bauer and Pete DeCenzo teamed to win the gross score title in the inaugural Grand Tournament Aug. 29 at Cuyuna Country Club in Deerwood.
Winning the net division was Bob and Jayne Lindgren.
Rounding out the top five gross teams were Brandon Turk-Ted Johnston in second, Brent Whaley-Brent Johnson in third, Pete and Lynn Bauer in fourth and Jamie Steinke-Kris Boike in fifth.
Mike Miller-Leroy Ryan placed second in the net division followed by Ken and Paul Kielty, George Berry-Joe O'Connell and Larry Switala-Adrian Olson.
JV tennis plays Rocori
The Brainerd junior varsity tennis team won six matches against Rocori Tuesday.
Kylee Kunde and Mara Williams were singles winners.
Doubles winners were the pairs of Nicole Gervenak-Mara Williams, Alex Williamson-Zoe Wolhart, Jinna Toft-Megan Mitchell and Kelsey Ott-Taylor Ott.
Diem to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warriors volleyball coach Jared Diem will be the speaker at the first Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting of the 2009-10 school year, which begins at noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
