20 years ago (1989)

The 9th Annual Medallion Treasure Hunt is almost under way, and the prize for finding the medallion could be as much as $1,500. The first clue comes out Monday in the form of a limerick for the hunt co-sponsored by Rohlfing, Inc., RC Cola and the Dispatch.

30 years ago (1979)

(Adv.) Woodland Park Realty, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Rod Carlson to its staff as co-owner and broker. Rod has three years experience in the Brainerd real estate industry.

40 years ago (1969)

Don Harstad of Rockwell Manufacturing was at the city council meeting to encourage Brainerd to double the price of parking at the same time it changes the meters from a one to two-hour time limit. He sold the meters to the city 22 years ago.

60 years ago (1949)

Cleared of participation in the Pequot bank robbery when bank officials failed to identify him, Bill Finn, the wounded Minneapolis bandit will be placed in a lineup to determine his part in the Ironton bank robbery of November 1927, said Sheriff Claus Theorin.

100 years ago (1909)

Secretary Dennis, of the YMCA, is very excited over the races for Labor Day. The Park board has fixed the old bicycle track at Gregory park for the mile run and also made a track 35 feet wide for the dashes at the west end of the park.
