VERNDALE - Gary Alan Bramer was born on Nov. 23, 1954, to Clarence and Florence (Bloom) Bramer at Wesley Hospital in Wadena. He passed away from cancer, at the age of 53, on Aug. 30, 2008, at his home in rural Verndale.
Gary graduated from Verndale High School in 1973. He attended Moorhead State University graduating in 1978 with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration. During those summer months of college he worked for Burlington Northern Railroad.
Gary was united in marriage to Sharon Stave in 1981. He later was united in marriage to Denise Tomte on June 14, 1996. He will be remembered as one who loved the Lord, one of the owners of Verndale Custom Homes, a Boy Scout Scoutmaster for many years, Verndale Lions Club member, Verndale Boosters and Jaycees member, as well as a member of the Friday Night Lights committee and Awana Leader. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, reading, traveling and sports (especially Vikings games at Sly's).
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Denise; sons, Christopher, of St. Cloud, Eric, of Albertville, Andrew, of Fosston; daughters, Melissa, of Fargo, N.D., and Stephanie, of Verndale; brothers, Ellis (Bev), of Verndale, Phil, of Watertown, S.D.; sisters, Lelia (Martin) Schwartz, of Owatonna, and Sheryl (Scott) Araskog, of Maple Grove. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, his church family at the Verndale Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Verndale Christian and Missionary Alliance Church with Pastor Bill Ness officiating. Pallbearers will be Les Breitling, Gary Bounds, Tim Sly, Brad Stinar, Wayne Stave and Vince Hinojos. Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Verndale.
Arrangements are with Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena.
