PINE RIVER -- The fifth annual Pine River Quilt Show will run Sept. 12 and 13 at two churches in Pine River.
Quilters from the region will display hundreds of handmade and machine made quilts and wallhangings 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at United Methodist and Riverview churches in Pine River.
Jackie Wetrosky, show chair, said anyone with quilts and/or wallhangings is invited to bring them to the show. There is no fee to display a quilt or wallhanging. Those who wish to drop off quilts for display early can drop them at Silbaugh's Department Store in downtown Pine River any time before the show.
No judging will take place; however, those who attend the show can vote for their favorite quilt in a category called "My Favorite."
Quilts will be sold at the event.
There is no admission fee. Lunch will be served both days at the Methodist Church.
The event is co-sponsored by the Pine River Chamber of Commerce and Silbaugh's Depart-ment Store.

Nisswa Fall Harvest Festival set Sept. 20
NISSWA -- The Nisswa Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the onset of colorful autumn days with the Fall Harvest Festival Sept. 20.
Festivities will run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Events will include pumpkin painting, haystack coin find, a craft fair, horse 'n' buggy rides around town, live music and food, including the Nisswa Lions' Pork-On-A-Stick.
Fall Fling golf outing set in Crosslake
CROSSLAKE -- The Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce will host a Fall Fling in Crosslake on Sept. 19 to celebrate the end of the summer season.
This chamber event will kick off at 1 p.m. with a three-person golf scramble at Crosswoods Golf Course.
Reservations must be made by Sept. 12 by calling the Brainerd office of the chamber at 829-2838, or (800) 450-2838, extension 805. Cost is $40 per person to golf (this includes golf for the three-some).
Proceeds from this event help support the volunteer appreciation program for the Crosslake Information Center volunteers.
