Bremer pulls away in the standings

Bremer Bank cashed in with a 33-11 victory over Shep's on 6th Aug. 27 to claim a 13-point lead in the men's league standings at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

While Bremer was busy building its lead, last week's second- and third-place teams, Halverson Law and Thelen Heating, battled to a 22-22 tie. That allowed Edward Jones, which defeated American National 28.5-15.5, to sneak into third place.

Legacy women

Becky Butcher, Debbie Briggs and Susan Goll shot a 31 to win the Legacy women's league scramble Aug. 25 on Bobby's front nine.

Rhonda Mareck, Lottie Oehrlein and Nadine Fraki shot 35 for second.

Mareck had the longest drive and Cherie Mans was closest to the pin.

The team of Kirsten Nelson, Tracy Jeremiason, Denise Kalevik, Jana Shogren and Suzanne McKibbon shot 29 to win the Par 3 Course scramble.

Lyn Carner, Deb Frazer, Nancy MacDonald and Sharon Myhre shot 30 for second.

Kelli Wikelius had the longest putt and McKibbon the longest putt.

The last Legacy women's scramble will be Sept. 17.

Breezy Point men

Park Midway Bank followed its first-half season victory with a second-half title Aug. 27 to secure the overall season title of the men's Twilight League at Breezy Point Resort.

A 6-6 tie with Dick Parks Gas gave Park Midway Bank a two-point second half victory.

Commander/JJ's defeated Mills Motor 9-3 to leapfrog Dick Parks Gas for second place.

Breezy Point women

Sue Marsolais and Sandy O'Day were both double winners Aug. 27 during the Breezy Point Resort women's league good stuff/bad stuff event on the Traditional course.

Marsolais had the longest putt and tied for most drives on the fairway. O'Day was closest to the pin and also tied for the most drives on the fairway. Tying Marsolais and O'Day for driving accuracy were Darlene Palmer, Ardelle Cook, Barb Owens and Martha Polsfuss.

Verna Miller was closest to the line. Bonnie Persons had the longest drive, Phyllis Struthers had the longest putt, Dee Wicks was closest to the line and Betty Aga hit the longest drive.

For the bad stuff, Bunny Oseland, Judi Moravec, Kathy Zender and Sue Adamson hit the most balls out of bounds.

Joe Brandt, Bonnie Person, Judy Thomas and Sue Obeidzinski hit the most bunkers. Obeidzinski had the only lost ball.

Brandt, Linda Betker, Obeidzinski hit the most trees/yardage markers and Adamson hit the most balls off the green.

Thursday's event is the league tournament at Whitebirch.

Whitefish women

Barb Holubar scored a 28 Aug. 26 to win the first flight of the Whitefish Women's 18-hole league's individual fielder's choice event.

Sherrie Adam fired a 29 for second followed by Marlys Guse in third and Myra Faust in fourth.

Mary Kay Kendall won flight B with a 27. Nancy Einan was second, Lurene Seaton was third and Diane Giefer, Nancy Schmidt, Barb Smith and Sharon Sullivan tied for fourth.

Judy Eastwood and Connie Foster tied for the flight C title. Darlene Bonnema and Sandra Pohl tied for third.

Kendall shot the low net with a 67.

Birdies were carded by Adam, Janice DuBois, Mary Jean Herdey, Holubar, Joan Kantos, Helen McGrath, Pohl and Enga Wodziak.

Chip-ins were recorded by Faust, Dorie Kaleva, Einan and Pohl, while Sullivan had two chip ins.

Following golf the women held their last meeting and presented the most improved golfer award to Sandy Meyer and the Ringer award to Barb Hanson.

Sharon Keister was elected 2010 president.

Pine River results

Gloria Taylor won the low net award Aug. 27 at the Pine River Country Club.

Carol Lovro was second, Lila Kersey had a chip-in and the low number of putts.

Ringler a ringer at Legacy

Todd Ringler picked up his first club championship by shooting rounds of 73-74 for a two-day 147 to win the Cragun's Legacy club championship Aug. 30.

Justin Heitkamp placed second with a 151, Mitch Means was third with a 159, Matt Ruis fourth at 163 and John Berg fifth with a 165.

Mike Moran was the low gross winner of the men's first flight with an 82. John Ohlin placed second and Brian Twamley third.

Dean Wieber won the first flight low net with a 70. Tim Engel was second and Gary Lippo third.

Rick Sorenson won the senior division gross with a 78 followed by Rick Harms. Babe Winkelman's 74 was low net followed by Dick Peterson.

Rhonda Mareck won the women's low gross title followed by Lotti Oehrlein. Sheri Peterson's 74 was low net followed by Margi Wieber.

Holes-in-one

Laura VanLandshoot, Baxter, aced the 100-yard sixth hole of the Par 3 Course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's Aug. 18 using an 8-iron.

David Alinder, Fargo, N.D., aced the 160-yard first hole of Madden's Pine Beach East Course Aug. 26 using a 5-wood.

Sam Gervais, Brainerd, aced the 149-yard, seventh hole of the Lakes Course at Grand View Lodge's The Pines Aug. 27 using a pitching wedge.

Carol Holthaus, Rice, aced the 139-yard third hole at Eagles Landing Aug. 30.

Larry Anderson, Brainerd, aced the 205-yard third hole at Eagles Landing Aug. 31.
