Gust A. Franzen
Gust A. Franzen, age 81, lifetime Brainerd resident, lost his battle with lung cancer on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009. He was born in Brainerd on Jan. 1, 1928, to Gust and Martha (Thorson) Franzen. Gust was a plaster and stucco contractor. He married Marcelline Rodman in Brainerd in 1947.
Surviving are his wife, Marcelline; seven children, David (Sandy) Franzen, Cindy (Buzz) Guin, Les (Peggy) Franzen, Michael (Rosemary) Franzen, Patricia (Walter) Bollinger, Kathleen (Bill) Rakow; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) Franzen; one sister, Christine Knapp; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, John H. Franzen; brothers John, Herbert, Hjalmer and Virgil; sisters, Gladys, Irene, Violet and Ruth.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. Pastor Tony Oltmann will officiate. Burial will follow at Vaale Cemetery.
