Two arrested for vehicle break-ins
BAXTER -- Two 18-year-olds were arrested Saturday in connection with numerous vehicle break-ins in Baxter and other areas, the Baxter Police Department reported.

NISSWA -- Three people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident Monday morning at the Highway 371 and Crow Wing County Road 77 intersection in Nisswa, Nisswa police reported.

The Pequot Lakes Police and Fire departments and North Aircare responded about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday to AAA Rental Inc. in Jenkins, off Highway 371, for a man who was kicked in the chest by a horse. The man was transported to St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd. The police department didnt know the mans name or his condition.

THEFT -- Jane Hoopman, 1000 block of Thorson Road, Sunday reported her vehicle stolen.
Death believed to be suicide
The death Aug. 24 of a person at a residence on 28th Street in east Brainerd is believed to be a suicide, the Crow Wing County Coroner's Office reported Tuesday.
Fire
The Brainerd Fire Department responded at 12:53 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a gas smell at the Holiday Station Store on South Sixth Street in Brainerd. It was determined the gas smell was freon from a damaged refrigerator. Firefighters aired out the leaking gas.

To commemorate its 50th year of business, Viking Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Brainerd donated $5,500 to the Central Lakes College Foundation for scholarships to CLC students.

CROSSLAKE -- Camp Cuyuna is a pristine, 850-acre wilderness camp for Boy Scouts that includes miles of undeveloped lakeshore on six lakes located only minutes from downtown Crosslake.

An Anderson Brothers Construction Co. employee driving a dump truck was injured after his vehicle collided with a train west of Baxter Wednesday.

Crow Wing County Commissioner Terry Sluss wrote a Dispatch guest editorial (8/27/04) on the increasing methamphetamine use in our county, and how it is impacting all of our county agencies as well as our local economy. In well documented research done this summer (as a volunteer) he calls for a more proactive and preventive approach to this staggering problem facing many rural counties.
