DULUTH -- A 28-yard touchdown pass from Brian Larson to Daryl Burch, with 8:16 remaining, lifted the Central Lakes College Raiders football team to an 8-0 season-opening victory over Itasca at the University of Minnesota-Duluth Saturday.
Larson ran for the 2-point conversion to give Dennis Eastman a victory in his return as the Raiders' head coach after five years away from the program.
"The defense played exceptional," Eastman said. "They played with their hearts and came up big when we needed them to.
"We made some mistakes, missed some assignments, but we took it to the house when we needed to."
CLC's Maurice Mays rushed for 93 yards on 26 carries. Burch finished with 64 receiving yards and Larson passed for 109 yards.
CLC hosts Hibbing 1:30 p.m. Saturday in its home opener.
