Heartland Squares will square dance from 8-10:30 p.m. Friday at Ideal Town Hall. Caller: Mike McGuire.

Firearms safety class

There will be firearms safety classes beginning at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 14 at Baxter School. There will be six classes at the school and one in the field. Space is limited. Register by calling Harry Meyer at 829-7345.

Degree of Honor

Members will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the VFW Club. Hostess will be Helen Serdahl.

Widowed Friends

The Widowed Friends will not meet for lunch and fellowship Monday. They will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 11 at Bonanza instead.

Potlatch retirees

Potlatch retirees will meet Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library for a meeting, potluck and games.

55 Alive Driving class

The Pine River American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a four-hour refresher class for drivers over age 55. The class will be held at the Pine River American Legion Club from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 11. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Instructor will be Leo Furnstahl. Cost: $10 per person. Weigh Down Bible study

Senior dances

There will be a senior dance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Legion with music by Frank Gust.

PEQUOT LAKES -- There will be a senior dance at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pequot Lakes Senior Center with music by Country Pride.

Retired Cooks

Retired Cooks will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Perkins.

Mission Possible

The Mission Possible Senior Club will meet at noon Wednesday at the Mission Park with a potluck picnic lunch. In case of bad weather, it will be held at the Mission Town Hall.

Fibromyalgia self-help class

A fibromyalgia self-help class will begin Sept. 12 from 7-9 p.m. every Tuesday for seven weeks at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Baxter. The class is sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation and the charge will be $15 for materials. Registration forms and other information may be obtained by calling Donna Peppel at 829-4877.

Heartland Senior Federation

There will be a meeting of the Heartland Senior Federation at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Brainerd Public Library. The speaker will be Eileen Iverson. Topic: Property tax reform. Refreshments available.

Family-to-Family course

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill Family-to-Family Education course is a series of 12 weekly classes structured to help family members understand mental illness, support their ill family member and maintain their own well being. The course is being offered locally in Brainerd starting Tuesday evening. The course is taught by a team of trained volunteer family members who know what it's like to have a loved one with a serious mental illness in the family. There is no cost to participate in the NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program. More than 900 family members in Minnesota have completed this nationwide course.
