The application deadline for antlerless deer hunting permits and special hunts is Thursday. Antlerless permit applications must be made through the new Electronic Licensing System and are coming in slowly, said ELS coordinator Tom Keefe. DNR officials are concerned.
ELS uses point-of-sale terminals at 1,700 locations statewide to issue all types of hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and to take applications for hunting lotteries such as antlerless deer permits.
Hunters who applied for either an antlerless permit or firearms special hunt in 1999 were mailed a postcard reminder.
