NISSWA - The Brainerd Warriors won three individual titles and the team championship in Monday's Camp Lake Hubert Invite.
Warrior champions included Mikinzee Salo at No. 2 singles, Briana Rademacher at No. 4 and the No. 3 doubles team of Samantha Kletscher-Courtney Tusler, all of whom went 5-0.
"I was very happy with Mikinzee, she played tough," Warriors coach Ellen Fussy said. "She competed hard in all five matches. Taylor Headlee, at No. 1, in the matches she won she played well, she just needs some consistency. She lost a tough match to (Bemidji's) Jamie Hoffman. Taylor battled, losing 7-5, 6-4, she was right there.
Mikinzee Salo
"Briana's a steady player who will frustrate other players because she's going to hit everything back. She will not make mistakes, she will force mistakes. That's what you need at No. 4. She's a good, young player, who's working hard. She's getting better each match she plays. More experience will do nothing but help her.
"We have as strong a No. 3 doubles team as anybody. If they keep playing like they're playing, a junior and senior at that position, they've got confidence and the experience, we should be able to count on them. They will be pushing our No. 2 doubles."
The Warriors received a runner-up finish from the No. 4 doubles team of Mara Williams-Nichole Gervenak.
Briana Rademacher
"They're both sophomores, they're both athletic, they're competitive kids," Fussy said. "They will be fun to help develop if they keep their hard work up."
