Stephen Moran swept the Junior Dragster Major class program last weekend at Interstate Dragway in Sabin.

The 12-year-old Brainerd driver's alcohol powered dragster won the Shiffner Trucking Jr. Dragster Shootout on Saturday with runs of 9.00, 9.00, 8.98, 8.93 and 9.00 with an average speed through the one-eighth-mile track of more than 71 mph. Kate Sims of Brainerd was runner up.

Moran also won the Summit Racing Equipment program Sunday with runs of 8.95, 8.93, 8.96, 8.95 and 8.90 and a top speed of 73.41 mph. Moran again defeated Sims when her car ran faster than her dial-in.

At Brainerd International Raceway's bracket race last weekend, Moran advanced to the semifinals in the Jr. Dragster Major Class. He was one of the final three cars in the 30-car field. He had runs of 8.81,8.83, 8.96, 8.97, 8.99 before losing in the semifinals with a run of 9.00. His best speed of the weekend was 74.11 mph.
