S-M girls win Battle of Borders

MOORHEAD -- The Staples-Motley Cardinals girls' cross country team battled back from Saturday's second-place finish by winning the "Battle of the Borders" Tuesday.

Brittany Brenny finished third and Hannah Landecker fourth to lead the Cardinals. Natasha Wenzel (9th) and Naomi Landecker (10th) also grabbed top-10 finishes.

Dan Huebsch paced the S-M boys' team to its second consecutive fourth-place finish by grabbing second individually. Dan Sveom was sixth in 17:31.
