Area growth is session topic
Lakes area growth and the effect on the quality of life in the area will be the topic for a lunch speaker, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Brainerd Lakes Area.
Jay Blake, planner with Dahlgren, Smith and Uban of St. Cloud and former Crow Wing County planning and zoning administrator, will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd Public Library. A potluck lunch is set from 11 a.m. to noon.
Free car seats available
The Crow Wing County Child Abuse Prevention Council is teaming up with Brainerd Kiwanis to provide free car seats to Crow Wing County residents upon completion of training session.
The training session is from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Oct. 7 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 N.E. Eighth St.
A $5 donation is required for the training. Participants must pre-register before Sept. 25. All of those qualifying will be notified before the training. The free car seats are the five-point restraint seats for infants and toddlers and high-back boosters.
To pre-register, write to the Child Abuse Prevention Council, P.O. Box 1004, Brainerd, MN 56401, and be sure to include your name, address and phone number so your registration can be confirmed.
If you only want to attend the training, but do not qualify for a free car seat, that is acceptable. Registrations will be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
