AITKIN - Adeline C. Purdy, 76, of Aitkin died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at her residence in the Aicota Assisted Living Facility in Aitkin.
She was born July 11, 1933, in Aitkin to Victor and Bertha (Olson) Sjodin. She graduated from Aitkin High School. Adeline was united in marriage to Robert F. Purdy on June 15, 1951, in Carson City, Nev. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening, going out for dinner, traveling and she loved her grandchildren.
Adeline is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard (Cindy) of Midland, Texas, and Rob (Shanna) of Aitkin; four daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Kautz of Brainerd, Karen (David) Stauffer of Aitkin, Vicki Rhodes of Aitkin, and Jean Purdy (Brian Wright) of Inver Grove Heights; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Eileen (John) Karelis of Aitkin and Betty Howard of Aitkin; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; a granddaughter; son-in-law Judge Robert E. Kautz; two brothers, LuVerne and Gillette Sjodin; two sisters, Vivienne Wells and Jeannette Grubb; and her parents.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aitkin. Reverend Judith Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.
