Pierz holds off W-DC with key doubles triumph

PIERZ -- By securing a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles the tandum of Kaari Jensen and Kayla Kapsner helped the Pierz Poineers fend off the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 4-3 in non-confernece girls' tennis.

Kristin Sczublewski, Mel Waytashek and Heidi Hoheisel grabbed the other victories for Pierz.

Katie Anderson won at No. 2 singles for W-DC with the Wolverines No. 1 and 2 doubles teams also winning.

Pequot drops

three matches

PARK RAPIDS -- Kayla Lenz improved to 10-0, but the Pequot Lakes Patriots dropped all three matches in the Park Rapids quadrangular Tuesday.

Pequot lost to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 4-3, Crookston 6-1 and Park Rapids 4-3.

Megan Lenz improved to 9-1 by winning two of her three matches and Tera Peterson also won two of three matches for Pequot.
