MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The University of Minnesota is adding women's rowing to its sports lineup, helping balance the men's and women's sports programs as required under Title IX.
Rowing is expected to attract 50 to 60 athletes during the first season and eventually will be built to a team of 80 athletes who share 20 scholarships, said Gophers coach Wendy Davis.
The first practice is set for Tuesday, the first day of school.
