GRAND RAPIDS -- The Central Lakes College Raiders men's golf team flexed their golf muscles Wednesday at Pokegama Golf Course in Grand Rapids.
The Raiders shot a 304, 16 strokes better than second place Northland to take home first place honors at the season opener.
Along with the team win freshman Joe Sauers was the individual medalist shooting a 73 and winning in a playoff hole.
Jeremy Medina of Walker shot a 74 for third place and Eric Rowbottom of Mesabi East shot a 76 for fourth place. Nick Dahl, a freshman from Little Falls, finished off the scoring with an 81. Josh Kuha also made the trip and shot an 82.
"That's a pretty good score," said Raiders head coach Jim Russell. "It was fun watching the kids play. They fought the weather conditions and if we score like that every time we'll win every time."
The girls team was incomplete as only two girls played. Freshman Becky Schornack of Staples shot a 90 for third place individually and Carin Sorvik shot a 116.
The Raiders play again today in Minneapolis at the Wirth Golf Course.
