BRANDON - The Verndale Pirates opened the football season with a 47-0 win over Brandon-Evansville Friday.
Brady Siedschlaw opened the floodgates with a 2-yard run. Verndale would score six more times before halftime.
The Pirates outrushed B-E 275-31. Amos Schmidt led Verndale with 131 yards and three touchdowns on six carries. Siedschlaw scored on an 18-yard run in the second quarter.
Matt Moenkedick hit Zach Meidinger on a 5-yard touchdown pass and the Pirate quarterback also rushed in a score. Moenkedick only attempted four passes and completed two of them for 56 yards.
