Suspense authors to be featured at Bookin' It

Posted: Thursday, August 30, 2007

LITTLE FALLS - Bookin' It will feature book signings and readings by three Minnesota suspense authors Sept. 8-9 as part of the Little Falls Arts and Crafts Fair.

From the nail-biting suspense and youthful courage in Mary Casanova's "The Klipfish Code" to missing heroes in Jess Lourey's "Knee High by the Fourth of July" to the fast-beating heart of William Kent Krueger's "Thunder Bay," suspense is the theme of this year's lineup.

Casanova, award-winning author of books for young readers, will be featured from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 8. Her latest release, "The Klipfish Code," follows 12-year old Marit and her brother Lars as they try to do their part to free Norway from Nazi occupation. Part of the story was gleaned from Casanova's conversations with a friend and neighbor who was 10 years old and living in Norway when it was invaded.

Mary Casanova

Lourey will be featured from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 9. She recently released the third book in her Murder-By-Month series and a fourth, "August Moon," is planned for spring. Her sassy Mira James character lives in rural Battle Lake.

Krueger will be featured from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 9. His latest book, "Thunder Bay," sold out nationally a month after being released and is scheduled for a second printing.

"Thunder Bay," a dark tale of greed and revenge, is his personal favorite among his books. This is the first book he's written in the first person with his character, Cork O'Connor, telling much of the story.
