PARK RAPIDS -- Travis Kelley and Casey Stark combined to figure in all Pine River-Backus scoring as the Tigers opened the football season Thursday with a 27-8 victory over Park Rapids.
Kelley caught three touchdown passes, all from Stark, and ran for a fourth-quarter score.
"Kelley, offensively, was definitely outstanding," Tigers coach Randy Schwegel said. "Stark is a sophomore. He's never played quarterback before. Basically, last year he just kicked for us. He came in, in his first real competition, and did a nice job. I was happy with him and everybody."
Schwegel singled out the defensive play of linebackers Thomas Anderson and Nate Winn and defensive tackle Joe Bresnahan.
